Why SDS is Critical in the CIS/EAEU
Compliance with the technical standards for the SDS is a mandatory precursor for placing chemical products on the EAEU market, supporting both current GOST requirements and the upcoming Eurasian REACH (TR EAEU 041/2017).
Mandatory GOST Standards: The key requirement is adherence to the national standards (GOST) for classification, SDS, and labeling, which are increasingly harmonized across the region.
SDS Standard: GOST 30333-2022 (mandatory from December 30, 2023) dictates the format and content of the Safety Passport (Russian SDS).
GHS Revision: The new GOST standards align with the 7th Revised Edition of the UN GHS (GHS Rev. 7).
Eurasian REACH (TR EAEU 041/2017): The SDS (Safety Passport) is a mandatory document for chemical registration under this future-focused regulation. The SDS must be submitted to the CIS Center as part of the notification/registration process for chemical substances and mixtures.
Mandatory Registration: Unlike many GHS systems, the SDS must be registered by the Russian Institute of Standardization (Rosstandart/CIS Center) to become valid in the territory .
A Compliant CIS/EAEU SDS must be:
Format: The 16-section format, strictly adhering to the requirements of GOST 30333-2022.
Language: Entirely in the Russian language.
Registration: Must include a "cover page" with registration data from the CIS Center.
GHS Classification: Classified according to GHS Rev. 7 criteria (GOST 32419-2022).
