SDS (Safety Data Sheet) Preparation & Certification Services for Uzbekistan
By Zoesoe Exports Pvt Ltd – Your Trusted Regulatory Partner
Uzbekistan's chemical safety framework is guided by national laws focused on Industrial Safety and mandatory Certification. While not an EAEU member, its regulations are heavily influenced by the regional GOST standards and a push toward modernizing hazard communication, particularly for the large industrial and agricultural sectors.
The provision of a comprehensive Safety Data Sheet (SDS), often referred to as a Safety Passport or similar document in the region, is essential for obtaining mandatory Certificates of Conformity and ensuring legal circulation of hazardous products.
Why SDS Is Mandatory in Uzbekistan
The legal requirement for detailed chemical safety documentation is based on national laws focusing on product and occupational safety:
Mandatory Certification (Uzstandard Agency): The Uzstandard Agency (Uzbekistan's standards body) mandates the certification of imported and domestically manufactured products, especially for chemicals, fertilizers, and consumer goods. The SDS is a critical technical document required for the product certification process and customs clearance.
Industrial Safety Law: The Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On Industrial Safety of Hazardous Production Subjects" (2006) requires operators to manage and prevent accidents related to hazardous substances (including those classified in hazard classes I, II, and III). The SDS provides the necessary technical data for developing safety plans, emergency response, and staff training.
Language Requirement: New regulations emphasize the need for local language documentation. While Russian is commonly used for official technical and CIS-related documents, product labels and essential safety information (drawn from the SDS) must be translated into the state language, Uzbek (Latin characters), for market placement and consumer/worker safety.
A compliant SDS for Uzbekistan must be:
Format: The internationally recognized 16-section SDS format (GHS aligned). The content should follow the structural and specific data requirements commonly accepted in the CIS region (e.g., GOST standards, which are often referenced in the absence of a dedicated national GHS standard).
Language Specific: The core SDS should be available in Russian for technical and official administrative purposes, and all critical safety, handling, and labeling information must be accurately translated into Uzbek for local circulation.
Certification Ready: Documentation must support the application for the Certificate of Conformity issued by Uzstandard Agency and meet the information requirements for the Ministry of Health (for sanitary/hygiene conclusions, where applicable).
Our SDS Services for Uzbekistan
